IDEA Group draws on a wealth of personnel with experience relevant to our clients' needs. The principals of IDEA have over seventeen years of service experience to clients in Calgary, Airdrie, Okotoks, Rocky View County, Sylvan Lake, Edmonton, St Albert, Spruce Grove and Cold Lake.


Jeff Beaton, P.Eng.
President and founding partner of IDEA Group

Jeff Beaton has extensive planning, storm-water management, civil design, project management and construction management experience in the broad variety of land development planning and analysis areas. In addition, Jeff is adept at leading public information meetings as a part of a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary offering. His creativity and experience help him find the most functional and cost-effective solution for each project challenge.


Brad O'Keefe, BA (adv), MARCH candidate
Vice President and founding partner of IDEA Group

Brad O'Keefe has extensive planning, permitting and project management experience, and has comprehensive knowledge of codes and policies within the land development industry. In addition, he has an interest in the various technological advancements that are occurring within the architectural and land development industries, an interest that he uses to ensure that IDEA remains on the leading edge of innovative communications, software and hardware solutions.

Sarah Beaton has extensive client relations, accounting and management experience in the small business areas. Her creativity and experience help overall growth and financial strength of the company.


Ryan Riddell
Project Manager
 

Ryan Riddell is the resident field expert at IDEA Group, with a wealth of construction experience in all aspects of land development. Ryan provides the expertise that takes the various design projects and turns them into concrete, tangible urban environments. In addition to his extensive construction experience, Ryan makes a strong contribution in the design, budgeting and scheduling components of our various land development projects.  Some of these projects include Calgary West LRT, WestJet Campus Facility, Jacksonport Industrial Centre and Stoney Industrial.


Doug Beaton, P.Eng.

Doug Beaton has worked as a general manager of a large mechanical contracting company, responsible for day-to-day business operations, tender estimating, and the execution of successful tenders to completion. He has also been involved with the development of mechanical and civil plans and specifications for various commercial and industrial projects across Prince Edward Island. Doug has extensive construction management experience (on- and off-site) with industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities.


Chris Jay, P.Eng.

Chris Jay joined IDEA Group in 2006, with a wide-range of construction experience gained in multi-disciplinary roles on projects throughout Canada, the United States, Argentina, China, and India.  At IDEA Group, he has been involved with the design and approval process for numerous commercial and industrial projects in the Calgary area, including Points North Business Park, Henderson Farms Multi-family Residential, and the Métis Trail Expressway.

 

Chris Maitland, BA, CPT

Chris Maitland is an intermediate planner and works closely with the various owners and IDEA Group team members to develop the various planning initiatives in which IDEA Group is involved. Chris has extensive knowledge and experience with the technological aspects of land development project delivery. Chris also has a good understanding of the many municipal planning policies that govern land-development projects.


Chris Moore, CET

Chris Moore has worked on the development of civil and mechanical plans and specifications for various commercial, industrial, and residential projects across Canada, in addition to long-term international experiences in the United States, Argentina, China, and India. He has extensive field experience with frozen food processing facilities, including hands-on construction management of water, steam, compressed air, and processing equipment installations.


Martha Tinoco B.Sc, EIT

Martha Tinoco is one our newest employees fresh out of the University of Calgary where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, at IDEA Group she is developing the necessary skills to grow as professional.  Through her experiences at IDEA Group Martha has had the opportunity to work on and off the field furthering her knowledge of the construction industry.  Martha has worked on a LEED project, giving her a respectable understanding of the LEED concept.


James Seller B.Sc, EIT

James Seller started at IDEA Group during his undergraduate studies at the University of Calgary. He has experience as a site inspector under the supervision of our senior staff on subdivision and commercial sites. More recently he has taken on the mantle of Stormwater Management, using both continuous and single event modeling to work on various pond reports and overland drainage.


Tyler Moir B.Sc, EIT

Tyler Moir joined IDEA Group in the Spring of 2008 after graduating from the University of New Brunswick.  Tyler has gained a variety of experience in land development, computer aided design and civil engineering since joining the group.  Under the supervision of our senior staff, Tyler continues to work on project planning, preliminary & detailed design, and site inspections for various projects in Alberta.  Some of these projects include Chestermere Business Park, Highland Park Industrial, Jacksonport Industrial Centre and the Métis Trail Expressway.


Kyle Garland B.Sc, EIT

Kyle Garland has been with IDEA Group since June 2008.  During this time, he has worked extensively with Civil3D on various design projects, including Jacksonport Industrial Centre, Points North Business Park, and Stoney Industrial.  This design work has given him a respectable understanding of City of Calgary design standards.  In addition, he has experience as a site inspector under the supervision of our senior staff on commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects, including Sylvan Lake Commercial Centre, Inland Spy Hill Pipe Plant, and the Métis Trail Expressway.
